Rhode Island native Peter Boyer's musical tribute to the Kennedy brothers, which receives its premiere May 18 at the Boston Pops, is being recorded live for release as a CD and download.

Also, Boston's WCVB-TV5 will broadcast the 15-minute piece, which contains a dozen quotes from President John F. Kennedy and Senators Robert F. Kennedy and Edward M. Kennedy, read by celebrity narrators, May 31 at 7:30 p.m. as part of a Memorial Day special.

Boyer, who graduated from Rhode Island College and is now based in Southern California, began composing "The Dream Lives On" back in January.

The piece is scored for chorus and orchestra as well as four narrators. Actors Robert De Niro, Ed Harris, Morgan Freeman and Cherry Jones will read the Kennedys' words during the May 18 and 19 Boston Pops performances, and be featured on the recording.

The recording will be available for download at www.bostonpops.org/digital.
